A well resourced programme that is effectively led and coordinated, and involves people at all levels, creates a positive climate where professional development can flourish to the benefit of individual pupils. The programme needs to be linked effectively with performance management. In doing so, it also needs to build on and share the knowledge and skills of staff, and meet the needs of individuals and teams, as well as those of the whole school.

We now have the 5 following Professional Standards built as passport pages within realsmart:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Core
  • Post Threshold
  • Excellent Teacher
  • Advanced Skills Teacher

You can duplicate these now from our community area. Just click the community tab in your ‘my content’ area, and search the titles.

If the answer is ‘yes’ you may have noticed realsmart running slower than normal or not working as it should.

If there are ANY changes to your internet provision you need to check that www.rlsmart.net is exempt from filtering AND caching. If this is not in place you will experience problems with realsmart, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon…….

One of our longest running and busiest users experienced just this, and it all came down to realsmart being filtered and cached on their proxy servers and by their Internet Service Provider (ISP). Below is a quote from that school, telling us how fast realsmart is now that it has been added to the filtering exemption list.

“It was like a reservoir bursting!!!!! Suddenly Realsmart became Realfast……….. What ever got changed today has unleashed the full potential of the application…. Thanks to all the Realsmart Technical Team.”

The names have been changed to protect the innocent…….

We have just returned from a fantastic few days at the SSAT National Conference - it was great to see so many old friends and to finally put faces to names. The show was a massive success for everyone involved with the thousands of people through the door and it felt like we spoke to most of them!

Look at the pictures to see how realsmart was represented at the show - our Big Bang theme certainly turned a few heads! Live demonstrations were order of the day with the five iMacs being occupied for most of the day.

We must take a minute to thank our two guest presenters; Simon Brown from Cramlington Learning Village (click for website link) and James Gough from Aston Manor School (click for website link). Simon and James use realsmart for their own lessons as well as being responsible for whole school use and were speaking to people all day about how realsmart could enhance their teaching experience. Thanks lads!

Welcome to our latest realsmart skin competition!

We had a cracking response last time and received loads of entries. Our winner - Joanna Rumney from Cramlington Learning Village - won an iPod and had her entry - ‘Zest’ - visualized by our design department. To see all the existing skins (including Joanna’s) go to ‘My Profile’ in your realsmart account and select ’skins’.
