rafl embraces the principles of assessment for learning, accelerated learning, multiple intelligences, learning to learn, thinking skills and learning styles, and delivers effective personalised learning.
This is done through a collection of objectives and activities. Learners can track their progress visually, review guidance and also upload evidence of their learning. Mentors can then access a dynamic overview of their class’ learning.
To create an rafl, click the ‘rafl’ tool on the create strip, enter a title and click ‘Create my rafl’.

The first pie you see represents your unit of work; task pies can be added by clicking the plus icon. You can add up to 8 task pies. You have the option to add guidance to each pie to help the learners with their activity. To add task criteria to your pies, click the next plus icon. Here you will see the ‘I can’ ‘Because I have’ statements. To the learner this means, I can learn this, because I have done the following tasks.
When a learner completes a task, the pies capture their qualitative and quantitative success. The colours are in a traffic light system, green means they completed the task with no problems, yellow means they had some difficulty, and red means they found it difficult. Grey means the task is incomplete.

Hi, I have two questions about realsmart that I hope you can help me with:
1. Is it possible for a students rlsmart details and files to be transfered between schools. I work in a high school and it would be great if students from our feeder schools could bring their work with them.
2. Is there any way to access file manager without going through the insert file route?
Thanks
Posted by : Michael on February 2nd, 2010HI Michael
Yes it is possible for student to transfer there work and details to a different realsmart site.
No, to access your file manager you must go through the content box and insert file route.
If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to contact me at lianne@smartassess.com or 0114 224 2334.
Kind regards

I am making a rafl, but seem unable to edit the titles after they are done. Even though your pop up help says I can. Double clicking does not put the cursor in the box.

I have worked out the problem. I was working on my MacBook in Fire Fox. It wasn’t letting me to double click to alter boxes. This seems to be a Flash problem. I went on the Windows parallels side of my Mac and everything worked fine. Can you suggest if I need to do something other than upgrade my Flash player.
Posted by : Marie Hindmarch on March 19th, 2010Hi Marie
This is something that happened with the firefox 3.6 update. There was obviously a problem with it, as lots of things weren’t working as they should - not just realsmart!
Mozilla have now released firefox 3.6.2, if you down load this update it will fix this bug. Also, I would always recommend getting the latest version of flash.
This should sort any issues you’ve been experiencing.
Thanks

Hi I am trying to create a rafl. The sheet will let me fill some guidance in at the top in the first ‘node’ and then underneath in the first node but no more guidance will be saved. When I click on ’save my content’ the guidanc box closes but the book icon is still grey and the box is empty?? Any ideas as to why??
